The highly anticipated opening of Lionel's Place took place over the weekend, drawing a fantastic crowd and marking a successful milestone for the PACC Gallery 2024/5. The works of renowned Australian artist Lionel Lindsay are currently on display through November, December and early January,  in a captivating exhibition that has quickly become the talk of the town. Known for his skill in printmaking, drawing, and painting, Lindsay’s pieces offer a glimpse into both the cultural landscape and his own personal vision of the world.

Artist Michèle Heibelatended the show over the weekend and had raving reviews. ...'Yesterday I was absolutely blown away by Lionel's Place. A true master of still life, portraiture, landscape, fauna … though what I think I love the most is the stories his travel works tell. Truly humbling to look at. All these works are on visit from @maitlandregionalartgallery’s incredible collection, donated in 2016 by Max and Nola Tegel.' - Michèle Heibel

The exhibition, titled "Lionel's Place," features a carefully curated selection of Lindsay’s most iconic works, showcasing his unique ability to capture delicate details and dramatic contrasts with precision. From his early works to his later, more refined pieces, the show offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of Lindsay's artistic style, as well as the broader context of Australian art during his time.

Lionel Lindsay (1874-1961), widely regarded as one of Australia’s most influential artists, was particularly celebrated for his mastery of woodcut prints, as well as his detailed watercolors and drawings. His depictions of landscapes, city scenes, and portraits were deeply inspired by his love for nature and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Today, his works are housed in major collections around the world, and this latest touring exhibition at PACC is an opportunity for the public to experience them up close.
