Cessnock City Council will host its annual Australia Day Awards and citizenship ceremony on 26 January. The ceremony will commence at 10am, beginning with a citizenship ceremony, where 18 local residents will join thousands of migrants across the country to become Australia’s newest citizens during the 75th anniversary of Australian citizenship.

The citizenship ceremony will be followed by the announcement of the Australia Day Award recipients, including Cessnock Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and many more. The annual Australia Day Awards are an opportunity to recognise individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to our community, demonstrated excellence in their field, or are considered role models for the generations to come.

The ceremony will conclude with a light morning tea in the PACC foyer.

This is a free event, however bookings are essential.
